E-Commerce Made Easy

E-Commerce Made Easy

Do you have a product or service you would like to sell on your website?

Making it easy for your customers to buy from you is a mantra most online retailers know well. Just as important for many small business owners is finding an e-commerce solution that is easy to set up and to run.

Brandicoot also follow that mantra and can easily set up an online store, or create an online sales form, onto your website with full SSL security so you can rest easy knowing that your sales, and your clients information, are being managed 100% securely.

Here is an overview of our favourite e-commerce solutions that can work seamlessly with your business.

Online Store Options

Ecwid

Ecommerce-image-ecwidEcwid stores look very clean and simple, can be added to your existing website which means you don’t need to start over. Brandicoot recently created one for Garry Anthony Menswear, you should check it out!

Ecwid allows you to sell both physical and downloadable products and will handle the file delivery automatically. A paid subscription is not even needed to sell digital products, which is great.

Ecwid’s Free plan enables to you start selling up to 10 products on a fully functional store that can sell your products simultaneously on multiple websites including Facebook. Stepping up to Ecwid’s Venture plan ($15USD per month) allows you can add up to 100 items to your store and offers added features including the use of discount coupons.  With discount coupons you can run promotions for a limited time, which works particularly well if you have an email list to target.

Gravity Forms

You most likely already use Gravity Forms on your website without realising. While it’s a great form builder, Gravity Forms can actually be used as a standalone e-commerce solution for stores that only sell a limited number of products, and can even be used for collecting donations. If you don’t need advanced order management or inventory tracking, Gravity Forms can provide an easy solution for creating purchasing forms.

Brandicoot recommend gravity forms for shops that sell a few simple products, a great example is a store we recently created for Rascals Corner.

While this setup is not for stores that need a cart process, it makes a very handy option for sites that have a limited product offering and don’t require inventory or order management within their website.

Payment Options

Paypal

Ecommerce-image-paypalPaypal can accept payments from credit cards, debit cards, linked bank accounts and, of course, PayPal on your site in minutes. Paypal gives your customer the power to choose. Add a checkout button, or express checkout button to give customers a faster, hassle free checkout on your site.

After every sale, your money hits your PayPal account almost instantly. Then you can take it anywhere – spend it easily with PayPal or withdraw it to your bank account.

When you sell with PayPal, you’ll enjoy Seller Protection on eligible transactions and get paid quicker. You don’t pay for Paypal services until you’re paid.

Stripe

Ecommerce-image-stripeWithout a doubt the coolest gateway on the block right now, and Brandicoot’s favourite, is Stripe.

Stripe is aimed at taking the bother out of setting up a payment gateway for merchants by managing all the bank and card connections for them.  Born out of a desire to remove the “pain” from payment processing, Stripe has achieved this goal by creating a payment processing option that’s beautiful, simple, and easy to use.

In keeping with their principle of simplicity and convenience, pricing is a low 1.75% + 30¢ per successful transaction for domestic cards and 2.9% + 30¢ for American Express or international cards.  Earnings are transferred to your bank account on a 7-day rolling basis.  If you calculate how expensive your bank merchant fees as well as payment gateway fees are this is a very cost effective payment gateway solution.

Stripe has so many features it’s hard to know where to start, and team that up with the fact that their service features are aimed at developers it’s all a bit mind boggling.  Just be assured that Stripe will integrate with your e-commerce requirements seamlessly.

Online Security

SSL Security Certificate

SSL SecurityDepending on which e-commerce solution you decide on for your business it may be necessary to install an SSL Certificate onto your web server.

SSL is an acronym for Secure Sockets Layer, an encryption technology that was created by Netscape. SSL creates an encrypted connection between your web server and your visitors’ web browser allowing for private information to be transmitted without the problems of eavesdropping, data tampering, or message forgery. Typically, SSL is used to secure credit card transactions, data transfer and logins.
